Exciting News!
Hello everyone! Exciting news, I’ve been invited to participate in an art show on June 11th. It’s called artist alley and takes place at Volition Brewing in North Bend, WA. I’m excited, and honestly a bit nervous about printing and selling my photos. It’s been a dream of mine for a long while to make money from photography and it’s always scary when you have the opportunity to follow your dreams. What if things don’t go well? What if no one likes my art? What if I invest a bunch of money into prints and then no one buys them?
Fears have a way of keeping us from those things that we truly desire and want for ourselves. Constantly reminding us that we aren’t good enough or that no one cares. But, we can’t let those annoying voices cloud our vision for ourselves and for our future. We must be bold enough to work for what we want and take all the chances we get. So what if I fail? If I learn something from it, then it’s not a failure; but a learning experience.
Such is the case with anything in life… but is especially evident in art and photography. I’ve taken tens of thousands of photos in my lifetime. I’ve taken nearly 5000 this year. I often shoot more than 100 in an outing. Thank goodness for the age of digital…My point is this. of those nearly 5000 shots, only a handful are truly great photos. (Or 50 slightly different copies of that same great photo).
Photography is as much about luck and timing as it is about skill and knowledge. Kind of like life. You gotta take the bad, the mundane, and the only slightly betters, to truly recognize and appreciate the rare and beautiful moments, both in photography and in life.
So if you happen to read this, and happen to be in or near North Bend on the 11th from 2 pm-6 pm. Stop by, buy some art, or just say hi.
